Working with CMA has been an education.

Alongside Mitch RemesCarney has been working as Director of Photography with the crew at Aston University and the Advance Prototyping Facility.  APF is a new project led by Aston University.  It's driving awareness of “Additive Manufacture” (3D Printing) and aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing designs and to develop new products all the way through to producing prototypes.  CMA Video are working with Aston and it was such a wonderful experience working with Mitch and the team.

We had the pleasure of working with contributors from Birmingham Case MakersRotoSpa, Ergo Figure, Trade10Hydropack, Peak Pet, Inspire-A-DollSonic Games and Legwork.

This week gave us the opportunity to speak to some of APF project innovators and some of the businesses they are working with.  It was an absolute pleasure to meet the team and we'd like to thank Paul GrettonGosia DzierdzikowskaRenia Gkountiou and Will Utting for having us.

The innovations that this department can help bring to small business production is incredible.  They can print ceramics, steel and other materials that help the evolution of existing ideas pre-production.  It's amazing to think that there is still European funded help out there for UK business and we're proud to be a part of it.

Sonic Games make mind-bogglingly beautiful and complex puzzles.  Carney will be agonising over his Kuku puzzle for years to come.

Trade 10 are doing all kinds of clever things with exercise bikes which put power back into the grid.  You work out - and the world consumes your energy.  Genius.

We really enjoying being part of this project, such varied content to film and encounter such brilliant minds.

Birmingham Case Makers is a fantastic case study.  They use lazer cutting and C.A.D. design to create handmade, beautiful presentation boxes.  Every C.B.E. sits in one of these.

The footage is now in the very capable hands of CMA's Matt Hickinbottom.  We can't wait to see the finished work.
