A fresh news article is something like a new scene in a play; and when I draw up the curtain this time, reader, you must fancy you see a lady, reclining in the grounds of Castle Howard. Nicole Remy is the heroine of NBC's new dating show The Courtship and it was our utmost pleasure to provide crew for the production in the princely shape of Captain Carney.
Jane Austen wrote in Mansfield Park "There are as many forms of love as there are moments in time" and what better way to explore this than with a regency-themed reality dating show. Hosted by the incredible Rick Edwards and produced by Endemol Shine US, The Courtship is a brand new show premiering on NBC in the US. Formerly known as Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance, the new series looks to bring to life the dreams of classical romantic pursuit made famous by the likes of Jane Austen.
Carney spent many a merry week at Castle Howard filming with an enormous crew, capturing Nicole Remy's quest for love on the Bridgerton inspired dating show. Friendships were forged over long days, hard nights and a macaroon mountain. If you’re across the pond you can catch it on Sundays at 8/7c or stream it on Peacock TV. The film crew were a delightful bunch and Carney thrilled in the opportunity to try out Jon Kassell's TRINITY as well as getting inspiration from drone god, Steve Peters. ARRI's TRINITY is the first hybrid camera stabilizer that combines classic mechanical stabilization with advanced active electronic stabilization, provided via 32-bit ARM-based gimbal technology.
The experience also introduced the Crows Nest team to the sublime sounds of Unsecret String Quartet - who produce string covers of all your favourite songs.
From carriage rides and masquerade balls, to archery, fencing and handwritten letters, Nicole and her pursuers swap modern-day sensibilities for grand-courting gestures of the past. Leaving the modern world behind presents its fair share of challenges for Nicole’s hopeful admirers, and the pressure builds when they discover that they must also get the seal of approval from her trusted Court: her father, Claude; her mother, Claire; her sister, Danielle; and best friend, Tessa.
The leading lady for The Courtship is Nicole Remy, a 26-year-old software engineer from Seattle. At the start of the pandemic Nicole pursued a new career and learned coding, eventually allowing her to join a tech startup. She also was previously a part of the Seattle Seahawks cheerleading team, the Sea Gals, for two years.
The show focusses on a modern girl tired of modern dating. She is transported back to Regency-era England in the hope of finding love. In a grand 19th century castle set among the rolling hills of the English countryside, a group of 16 eligible suitors must battle to win her heart. However, it is not just the heroine who gets to have a say. Her “court” chooses dates for her and helps uncover which suitors deserve her love. As each attempts to out-romance the other, suitors find themselves at a weekly farewell ball where it will be revealed whether their journey in romance continues or their carriage awaits to return them to the modern world.Vying for her heart: Daniel Bochicchio, 31, real estate agent, from Staten Island, N.Y., Giuseppe Castronovo, 27, pizzeria owner, from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Lincoln Chapman, 25, a model from Nashville, Tennessee, Christian Lee Cones, 25, an IT support manager from Los Angeles, Lewis Echavarria, 26, mortgage advisor from Miami , Jaquan Holland, 30, teacher, from Long Island, N.Y.
