We're licking our lips in Lion City this week.

Carney and Sharon are enjoying a sensory overload in Singapore, as they explore the city where passion and possibilities meet.  It's where foodies, explorers, collectors, action-seekers, culture-shapers and socialisers convene.  Gourmands and mixologists flock here from around the globe and the captain is out in Southeast Asia to investigate the island with The Botanist gin.  

The Singapore cocktail scene has flourished over the last few years and, despite, or perhaps because of its distant Hebridean provenance, The Botanist's popularity has boomed.  "The Botanist gin, like a vine, slowly but steadily grew its tendrils here." reported Spirited Singapore last year.  This urban jungle is rife with foragers and the spirit which celebrates native flavours resonates beautifully with its inhabitants.

The crew have met up with urban forager and co-owner of Native cocktail bar, Vijay Mudaliar.  Vijay habitually deploys foraged ingredients in his mixology.  Antz, one of Mudaliar's signature drinks, is served with coconut yogurt, aged sugarcane juice, Chalong Bay rum, and ants foraged from around Ann Siang Hill in Singapore's Chinatown.  Further rummaging in Lion City will expose noni fruit, pink jasmine blossoms, butterfly pea flowers, wood sorrel and ivy gourds - also known as baby watermelons.  Edible plants are wildly available if you know where to look.

Still intent on getting their spiritual fill, the pair also toured some of Singapore's highlights including Atlas Bar, Gardens By The Bay and ION Sky.
